SOUL BOWL

Good Food Doing Good. Sustainable solution to food delivery.

Our planet is drowning in plastic waste - a whopping 8.3 billion metric tons of it! The sad truth is that 90% of single-use plastics aren't even recycled.

When it comes to designing, we always keep the planet in mind. We believe that good design doesn't have to come at the expense of the environment. Whether it's reducing waste, using sustainable materials, or finding ways to recycle, we're always looking for ways to make our designs more eco-friendly. We like to think of ourselves as planet-conscious creatives.

When we heard that millenials are the least likely generation to recycle, we challenged ourselves to use design to inspire a sustainable lifestyle in people aged 15-25.

Food delivery services are the best way to get a millennials attention. We created a ground-breaking sustainable food delivery service using smart materials with dissolvable packaging and a hand-back scheme to allow for zero waste meals with zero effort.

Introducing Soul Bowl - Good food doing good. a straightforward cycle with impressive results - order, enjoy, dissolve, return, and repeat!

The brand's aspiration was to embody boldness, rebellion and memorability. The name "Soul Bowl" was derived from the type of meals offered in the service. Soul food, which is known for its comforting and wholesome nature, is a hearty dish traditionally served in a bowl. This association, along with the bowl-shaped packaging, inspired the name "Soul Bowl".

To create an eye-catching and unique identity, we experimented with creative typography, using techniques such as letterpress and incorporating double meanings into the letters. For example, we used the “o” in soul as a halo over the letter "o" in bowl to represent doing good. However, in the final identity, we chose to use the "o" to symbolise the bowl shape of the dishes.

The Yin-yang symbol inspired the layout to the outer dissolvable packaging, which subtly reflects our brand's values. To develop the final sleeve, we experimented with patterns made from our logo and ingredient illustrations.

Inside the sleeve, we included a playful guide on how to correctly recycle the packaging.
